Mark Driscoll

Men’s meeting

(1.Cor.10:1-14)

Rom.6:6… Slavery is not over! (this time we have just chosen our slave masters)

*Martin Luther on the 10 commandments: “If you follow the first two you won’t have to worry about the rest”

-All sin is rooted in idolatry

-Everyone is a worshipper all the time…either of God or of idols (Rom.1:25)

Idolatry:

1.Brings Identity

(masculinity is defined by what you produce, not by what you consume)

(1.Cor.11:7)

2.presents a false gospel

(how advertising works: “heaven to hell through a false savior”)

-idolatry causes grumbling and death

1.if you idolize something, you have to demonize something else

2.people and things fail as gods

-Jesus is not an idol-giver…he is GOD! (He’s an idol-breaker!)

“fear of man is a snare/trap” Proverbs.29

Revelation.21

(conviction leads to repentance which leads to freedom)

-define your life and live it backward

-see the king and the kingdom and define your life accordingly

-it’s not that our appetites are too strong, they are too weak!
